Unlocking the Secret of the Most Essential Strumming Pattern on Guitar

Welcome back to Day 17 of 30 Days of Guitar! I want to show you the most common strumming pattern on guitar. This strumming pattern works on almost any song and will be invaluable to you in your guitar journey. We’ll practice it with a couple of easy songs: What I Got, and Good Riddance Time of Your Life.

The MOST USEFUL Strumming Pattern on Guitar

We begin the lesson by learning the most common strumming pattern ever! What makes it special is the “missing beat” on beat 3. This causes a phenomenon called “syncopation” to occur.

Yeah I know it sounds kind of complicated, but I promise it’s not! We make it as simple as possible, and by the end of this you’ll know a pattern that works on like… 80-90% of ALL songs – SERIOUSLY!

You can apply this strumming pattern to a variety of songs, such as What I Got by Sublime and Good Riddance Time of Your Life by Green Day.
