Unlocking the Secrets of Effective Guitar Practice

Unlocking the Secrets of Effective Guitar Practice

Welcome back to Day 7 of 30 Days of Guitar! Today we’re going to take a break from all the practicing, and focus on HOW to practice. Learning to practice guitar effectively will save you time in the long run, and having a routine will help you stay motivated and reach your goals faster.

How often should I practice guitar?

The short answer is: as often as you can! Even just 10-15 minutes a day can make a big difference. However, consistency is key – try to practice at least 5 days a week for best results.

What should I practice to get better at guitar?

It is important to practice both chords and strumming SEPARATELY in order to become a better guitar player. Spend some time each day focusing on chord switching, then practice counting, rhythm & strumming, and finally practice an easy song as a way for putting the chords & strumming together.

What should my guitar practice routine look like?

As you evolve as a guitarist your practice routine should be tailored towards your goals and objectives as a musician. Try to incorporate a variety of activities into your practice, such as: warm-ups, chord progressions, rhythm & counting, strumming, etc. If a particular technique is giving you trouble, you might want to dedicate a bit more time to that exercise.

How can I make sure I stick to my practice routine?

Planning ahead is the best way to ensure that you stick to your practice routine. Decide what activities you want to focus on each day and write out a practice plan. Set small goals and reward yourself when you achieve them. Lastly, remember to have fun and enjoy the process!
